What You’ll Learn
⚖️ What negotiations actually are – many people see and treat negotiations as an adversarial or competitive situation. Negotiations can and should be about looking for ways to reach collaborative outcomes.Â
⚖️ Negotiation styles – there are 5 classically recognised negotiation styles. These are collaborate, compromise, compete, avoid and accommodate. You will learn how and when to use each.
You will complete your own negotiations styles questionnaire to discover your preferred negotiation style.Â
⚖️ How to plan effective negotiations – Like many ares in life, planning is key. You will learn how to plan to generate win - win outcomes, how to offer concessions, how to deal with difficult negotiators and how to build on the relationship once the negotiation is complete.Â
⚖️ Understanding how to create your W.I.N. – We talk about win - win all of the time. In negotiations, W.I.N. stands for
Want - what would be an ideal outcome for this negotiation?
In Between - what is in between my want and my need? This is often regarded as a compromise.
Need - what is the minimum I need to get from this negotiation?Â
⚖️ When to walk away – Sometimes the best thing you can do is walk away or say no. However this doesn't mean the end of the negotiation.Â
